Congressman Kissell Encourages Unity on National Day of Prayer

From Stanly News & Press

Thursday, May 7, 2009 —  Congressman Larry Kissell observed the National Day of Prayer during a ceremony at the U.S. Capital this morning. After attending his weekly Congressional prayer breakfast, Kissell participated in the National Observance in the Cannon House Office Building, Caucus Room.

The observance featured Honorary Chairman Beth Moore, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Dr. Shirley Dobson. The focus and theme was on prayer for the nation’s leaders and their families.

“The National Day of Prayer is a chance for folks to come together and be united by their faith, even if they are from other differing religious backgrounds and certainly if they are from different political backgrounds,” Congressman Kissell said. “On this National Day of Prayer, I offer the hope that today our Country can be united in our common purpose to preserve freedom and fulfill the promise of our forefathers. I know we can all agree that we pray together for the brave men and women serving our Country who work every day to preserve our freedom and guarantee that promise.”
